Security at Houses of Worship

Providing Security to Churches, Synagogues and Other Houses of Worship

“An institutional security system can begin with a simple dead-bolt lock and strike plate and expand to sophisticated electronic intrusion and notification equipment. There is no security system that is infallible, but the more carefully chosen and designed the system is (for the particular institution's circumstances) the smaller chance there is that it will be defeated.” –Orthodox Union

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is committed to working with citizens, private industry, trade organizations and all levels of government to keep America safe and to foster the freedoms that we cherish. One of the things DHS has done is distribute grant funding to the various states which non-profit agencies such as houses of worship (churches, synagogues, etc.) can apply for. These grants have been issued to many organizations for increasing or hardening their congregation’s facility.

If your congregation is an awardee of a DHS grant, please consider contacting EIA, which is a vendor on the approved NY State Office of General Services (OGS) contract. EIA is a State of NY licensed security firm and electrical contractor (founded in 1977).
