NEW YORK CITY (November 1, 2012) - EIA was the systems integrator for a multi-part complex networked security installation, for the Second Presidential Debate, between President Barak Obama and Governor Mitt Romney. The debate was held on October 12, 2012 at Hofstra University in Long Island, New York.
EIA’s mission included developing and integrating a mix of high-tech network I.P., thermal, and infrared cameras, and for preparing mobile access over wireless network connections for both ground and air surveillance for Hofstra University Security, Nassau County Police Department and the U.S. Secret Service. This debate, considered a National Special Security Event (NSSE), was deemed so because it was of national significance to be a potential target for terrorism or other criminal activity by the United States Department of Homeland Security (DHS).
EIA’s integration of network security hardware, was wed with software from Milestone Systems, the open platform company in IP video management software (VMS); Milestone’s “XProtect Corporate” software allowed law enforcement authorities and the security incident commander to monitor campus roadways, buildings, faces in the crowd and the presidential candidates themselves, from strategically placed remote control centers and onsite.
"Working with the electronic surveillance squad and university security in the weeks leading up to the debate, we were able to deploy cameras on numerous buildings throughout the campus and feed them into the comprehensive surveillance network. The cameras were networked through video software which provided the surveillance team with visibility to vantage points of the debate and surrounding areas,” says Glenn Taylor, Senior VP Sales at EIA. He added, “We work with a large number of applications and Milestone has the only VMS that allows us to seamlessly integrate them into our deployments without error. Milestone is always the strongest choice when it comes to our projects. We never have to worry about making changes.”
Founded in 1998, Milestone Systems is a global industry leader in open platform IP video management software. Delivering powerful surveillance that is easy to manage, reliable and proven in thousands of customer installations around the world.
