NEW YORK, NY (August 7, 2013) – EIA was an invited participant in the August 6, 2013 press conference held by Nassau County Executive, Edward P. Mangano at the Nassau County Public Safety Center. The press conference was to unveil a technological upgrade to Nassau County’s already successful gunshot location system. Among those in attendance were Police Commissioner Thomas Dale; Deputy Commissioner Thomas Krumpter; and Chief of the Department, Steven Skrynecki.

“My administration is expanding its war on gun violence,” said County Executive Mangano. “The entire system for locating gunshots is being paid for utilizing asset forfeiture and grant funds,” he added.

The event, well attended by local radio, print and television media, included a real-time demonstration of how the gunshot location technology works. The partner organizations which all had a hand in bringing this technology to Nassau County were introduced, including, ShotSpotter, Milestone Solutions, The Hawkeye Effect, and EIA.

David Engel, EIA’s CEO said, “EIA is proud to have introduced the concept and followed through with the integration of the geospatial awareness technology (perfected by The Hawkeye Effect), which has since been integrated into Nassau County’s video management system (supplied by Milestone Systems).

Gunshot detection systems often can provide the number of shots fired, direction of gunfire and the type of weapon fired, enabling a more effective response to gun violence and giving law enforcement authorities a more complete picture of what transpired at the scene of a crime.

EIA provides tools to customers which include covert and open surveillance, video synopsis and analytics, video archiving, access control, lock-down systems, nuclear material tracking, gun shot detection, Ethernet, fiber optic and copper cabling, and providing set-up and management of networks at general, high-risk, and other special events.
