NEW YORK, NY (November 21, 2013) – Just two weeks after the ING New York City Marathon, NYC was host to the International Security Conference & Exposition – also known as ISC East, the premier security event in the Northeast for the physical security industry. There, EIA, Inc., Networked Technologies integrators who provided the marathon with advanced security and situational awareness support, were mentioned during an educational session: Safe and Secure Sports Facilities and Events: Are You Prepared for a Boston Marathon-Like Incident?

The session, moderated by Dr. Lou Marciani (Director, The National Center for Spectator Sports Safety and Security); presented Kyle McLaughlin (Security Manager for New York Road Runners); and Jim Cawley (Senior VP of Security for the NBA). These men discussed how terrorists have demonstrated an increasing interest in attacking significant infrastructure, economic, and symbolic targets. The session focused on how sports and facility managers examine the unique security challenges posed by high-profile sporting events and the concerns of stakeholders responsible for maintaining public safety.

A portion of the discussion spoke of the ING NYC Marathon; Dr. Marciani graciously acknowledged EIA in the audience [Glenn Taylor (SVP) and Shelomo Alfassa (Director of Marketing)], and McLaughlin praised EIA, indicating that they were able to install supplemental cameras "in a very short span of time..." He added, "It was amazing to see all the agency personal glued to the cameras all day as the runners came through...the cameras allowed us to easy pick out patterns and anomalies on the video.”

Glenn Taylor, EIA’s Senior VP of Sales said, “visiting ISC East was an opportunity to network with our technology partners, many of who such as Milestone and Firetide, dedicated equipment toward making the ING NYC Marathon safer.” EIA, one of America’s leading Networked Technology Integrators successfully provided the tactical installation and final integration of a deployment package consisting of various surveillance and security equipment which provided robust situational awareness to the management of the ING New York City Marathon, to the FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Force and the New York City Police Department.
